Let it Go

Image
Let it Go Rules and expectations of others, rules and expectations of society, rules and expectations of you towards others, are holding you back big time. Is there ever a time when something so crazy happens, that we throw up our hands and say screw it? Has the darkest part of our soul ever taken control over our critical thinking skills, and destroyed the good nature that we were brought up on? Have we been hiding our true thoughts and feelings for so long, then when society needs us to express the full breadth of our goodness, we clam up because we’re afraid of what other people might say? What will they think of me if I show up as my true self? Will, I be seen as weird? Will they accept me? Can I say that or will they think that I am crazy? Does that inner dialogue sound familiar? We have been confronted with the animalistic side of our emotions time and time again. Let’s try something different. Better put, let’s try something that we’ve been afraid of ever since loud voices start...

Mudra and Mantra

Image
Mudra and Mantra Mudra is an ancient Sanskrit term meaning "gesture." We use mudras in yoga to cultivate a greater sense of awareness of certain energetic fields within the subtle body. In other words, we can use them to help us meditate and open up our seven main chakras. The word mantra is derived from two Sanskrit words—manas (mind) and tra (tool). Mantra literally means “a tool for the mind,” and was designed to help practitioners access a higher power and their true natures. Mantra is a  sound vibration through which we mindfully focus our thoughts, our feelings, and our highest intention.

The Inner Child

Image
Embrace Your Inner Child Have you ever thought about why you can’t move forward? Have you wondered why you sabotage yourself? Have you ever questioned why you so easily feel anxious, depressed, and self-critical? Inside each of us, there’s an inner child that was once wounded. To avoid the pain, we’ve tried to ignore that child, but s/he never goes away. Our inner child lives in our unconscious mind and influences how we make choices, respond to challenges, and live our lives. What exactly is this so-called inner child? Does it truly exist? And why should we care? To begin with, the inner child is real. Not literally. Nor physically. But figuratively, metaphorically real. Your Inner Child is the echo of the child you once were. We were all once children, and still have that child dwelling within us. But most adults are quite unaware of this. And this lack of conscious relatedness to our own inner child is precisely where so many behavioral, emotional and relationship ...

Alignment With the Universe

Alignment With the Universe Yoga as a Cosmic Geometry What feels so good is that  yoga  is a path of awakening and that's so even when we do it just for fitness. The asanas are shapes that reflect  cosmic geometry . The points of contact where palms touch or when hands come to the third eye are neural pathways that fire and engage the brain and nervous system. A lot of people think of yoga as a purely physical practice. It has become a new way of exercising because it builds strength and flexibility and always feels better after yoga. We rarely regret making it to yoga.  What feels good is that Yoga is a path of awakening even when we do it just for fitness. The asanas are shapes that reflect cosmic geometry when we bend in this way or that, there is a connection. We are integrating our energy system whether we know it or not. We are coming into alignment with cosmic geometry whether we know it or not.  We rewind ourselves each tim...

The Importance of Consistency

Listen to Your Body

Image
Listen to Your Body To listen to your body means to respect its physical limitations and not let your ego rule how deep you go into a pose or how far you push. You have to play with your “edge” as we call it which is that fine line where you are at your maximum point of expression in that particular moment in that particular pose. Your edge varies from day to day based on several different contributing factors which is why it is so important to listen to your body. You should never feel pain in any pose although you may experience severe discomfort or new sensations, this is all part of the process of learning to listen to your body and differentiate between pain and uncomfortable or unfamiliar sensation. How can you differentiate you may ask, and the truth is it’s different for everybody but as a general rule if it’s a zinging sort of quick shooting pain that is where you stop before creating injury as that is your body speaking to letting you know you’ve gone too far. Althou...
