Let it Go

Image
Let it Go Rules and expectations of others, rules and expectations of society, rules and expectations of you towards others, are holding you back big time. Is there ever a time when something so crazy happens, that we throw up our hands and say screw it? Has the darkest part of our soul ever taken control over our critical thinking skills, and destroyed the good nature that we were brought up on? Have we been hiding our true thoughts and feelings for so long, then when society needs us to express the full breadth of our goodness, we clam up because we’re afraid of what other people might say? What will they think of me if I show up as my true self? Will, I be seen as weird? Will they accept me? Can I say that or will they think that I am crazy? Does that inner dialogue sound familiar? We have been confronted with the animalistic side of our emotions time and time again. Let’s try something different. Better put, let’s try something that we’ve been afraid of ever since loud voices start...

Mudra and Mantra

Image
Mudra and Mantra Mudra is an ancient Sanskrit term meaning "gesture." We use mudras in yoga to cultivate a greater sense of awareness of certain energetic fields within the subtle body. In other words, we can use them to help us meditate and open up our seven main chakras. The word mantra is derived from two Sanskrit words—manas (mind) and tra (tool). Mantra literally means “a tool for the mind,” and was designed to help practitioners access a higher power and their true natures. Mantra is a  sound vibration through which we mindfully focus our thoughts, our feelings, and our highest intention.

Six Ways To Raise Your Vibes

Six Ways To Raise Your Vibes 1. Show gratitude Create a gratitude journal and write 3-5 things for each day. The best time to do so is before sleep and read back to yourself the next morning. 2. Practice Forgiveness  The quickest way to happiness for yourself is to forgive and release especially if you find yourself angry or sad about something. Ask yourself: "Would you rather be happy or right?" 3. Shift your Focus If you are stressing or be unhappy for something quickly turn your focus to the positive aspect - what you already have, what you like, what you are good in. Find one small positive thing to focus on each day. 4. Be Present  Stay in the present moment and soak up all the goodness surrounding you. For example: when you eat focus on the taste, the texture, the smell. Going out for a walk and spend some time in nature, observe the trees or the waves, listen to the birds' singing and chirping. Connect, Be one with your surr...

Listen to Your Body

Image
Listen to Your Body To listen to your body means to respect its physical limitations and not let your ego rule how deep you go into a pose or how far you push. You have to play with your “edge” as we call it which is that fine line where you are at your maximum point of expression in that particular moment in that particular pose. Your edge varies from day to day based on several different contributing factors which is why it is so important to listen to your body. You should never feel pain in any pose although you may experience severe discomfort or new sensations, this is all part of the process of learning to listen to your body and differentiate between pain and uncomfortable or unfamiliar sensation. How can you differentiate you may ask, and the truth is it’s different for everybody but as a general rule if it’s a zinging sort of quick shooting pain that is where you stop before creating injury as that is your body speaking to letting you know you’ve gone too far. Althou...

Prana "The Vital Energy"

Image
Breath is Life Pranayama “Prana, one’s vital energy, determines the function of one’s entire system.”  -Sadhguru- Our breath is synonymous with our life. Breathing is so natural and automatic that most people never even notice that they are breathing unless it is excited or restricted in some way. Life enters us with our first inhalation and leaves with our final exhalation. It is truly one with our life force. Prana has many levels of meaning, from the physical breath to the energy of consciousness itself. Prana is not only the basic life-force, it is the original creative power. It is the master form of all energy working at every level of our being. Indeed the entire universe is a manifestation of prana. Even kundalini shakti, the serpent power or inner energy which transforms our consciousness, develops from awakened prana. “Prana” means “the vital energy”, “yama” means to gain control over that. So, it is a subtle process through which one can gain cont...
